The Mad Batter began in 2016 because I was tired of settling.
Tired of dry gluten free cake.
Tired of being told to just have fruit.
Tired of free from options feeling second best.
I wanted cake that tastes like cake.
The kind people ask for seconds of, not because it is gluten free, but because it is genuinely good.
Once I mastered gluten free, I pushed myself until I could offer dairy free, vegan and vegan gluten free cakes that tasted just as indulgent.
No shortcuts and no compromises.
As someone with a gluten intolerance, I understand the mix of excitement and anxiety that comes with food.
I know how isolating it can feel when safe options are limited, and how disappointing it is when the “safe” choice is never the enjoyable one.
Here, free from is not a box I tick. It is something I care about deeply, and it is part of everything I do.
Everyone deserves cake that feels safe, indulgent and unforgettable.

Every free from bake is made with the same care, flavour and attention as my classic range, because free from should never feel like less.
I use a completely separate baking area, equipment and tools for all gluten free bakes and I take a thoughtful, considered approach to every dietary request.
Everyone deserves cake that feels safe, indulgent and genuinely delicious.
Here, free from does not mean second best.
It simply means everyone gets to enjoy really good cake.

Do you bake gluten free in a separate area?
Yes. All gluten free cakes are baked in their own dedicated area with separate tools and equipment.
Do you make nut free cakes?
Nuts are present in my kitchen, but in my gluten free cake room all nuts are stored in a locked box and kept completely separate. I can make cakes without nuts added, but I cannot guarantee a nut free environment for anyone with a severe nut allergy.
Do free from cakes taste different?
No. My goal is that nobody can tell it is free from. Flavour and texture always come first.
Can my whole wedding cake be gluten free or vegan?
Yes. Any tier or the entire cake can be free from and still look and taste beautiful.
Do you offer tastings for free from cakes?
Wedding cake tasters are free for all couples regardless of any dietary requirements and costs aren't increased due to products being free from
