How far in advance should i place an ordeR?
For weddings, I would recommend booking as far in advance as possible, ideally upto 12 months ahead especially for summer dates. My diary can fill up quickly, so booking early gives a better chance of securing your date even if your ideas aren't finalised yet. However if your wedding is sooner, please still enquire as I may have availability for what you're looking for.
For celebration cakes much less notice is needed and sometimes I'm available in the same week.
How do we secure our date with you?
To secure your date, a booking fee is required. This is £100 for wedding cakes or dessert tables and celebration cakes are paid in full at time of ordering. This then secures your place in my diary. Your final balance for wedding cakes or dessert tables and final confirmed order details aren't due until closer to your date, so you don't need to have everything decided if you'd like to book.
Can you recreate a cake from a photo or mood board that i share with you?
I love it when you share photos or mood board ideas with me but I can't ever copy an image exactly. Instead i'll use it for inspiration, looking at things like colour. style and design. Together we'll then create something that's unique and completely your own.
I don't know what i want, is this okay, can you help?
Of course! Wedding planning involves a lot of decisions and it's completely normal to not know exactly what you'd want. You can come to me with 1 idea or 100 and we'll discuss them together. We can take parts of some ideas and tweak others and work out a design you're completely happy with.
Can i have real flowers on my cake?
Of course! We have to be careful because some flowers are toxic to humans, so I can't add those at all. I'm happy to discuss which flowers could be food safe and liaise with you and your florist. Flowers will need to be provided by your florist to ensure an exact colour match with the rest of your florals on the wedding day and then I'm happy to add tese on during the set up.
Can you provide a cake stand?
As part of your wedding package with your venue, they usually will offer a set up for your cake so a dedicated cake table, knife and cake stand. However if you'd prefer to use something different, I don't offer stand hire but the wedding co-ordinator at the venue may have recommendations of places you can hire stands from. The stand and table need to be strong enough to support the cake properly and I'm happy to advise on this.
How far do you travel and do you set up on the day?
For weddings, I deliver and set up all cakes to ensure they arrive safely and stress free. My delivery area covers a 20 miles radius from SG1 1LR for that reason. Prior to the wedding day, I'll speak with the venue and agree an arrival time to ensure I have plenty of time to set up and I always bring my cake kit with me containing everything I'll need for set up.
How can i trust your free from baking as somebody with dietary requirements?
As someone who has a gluten intolerance, I understand how important dietary requirements are, whilst it still being important that cake tastes like cake, not free from cake! I have a separate baking space for all gluten free cakes, including a dedicated mixer, equipment and oven to help ensure your cake is safe and free from cross contamination.
